The system of government of the united states is set up to protect the rights of all persons equally. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. 2 the government entities, in order to accomplish this task must remain pure and unbending. They cannot be influenced by a biased religious fervor that requires acknowledgment of inequality within humanity for it to function properly. To do so not only secure the rights of the american citizen they represent but their own personal rights as well. The most important point of the declaration is that all men are created equal and to allow religion to dictate government is to abandon this view completely. We have thrived on being a diverse nation and embracing our differences to form a more perfect union. Because all citizens are not representative of one religion, a universal law influenced by a religious order would not benefit all citizens equally and thereby be unconstitutional. Government is required to institute laws for the good of the citizens without consideration for gender, creed, or nationality. The government is what protects its citizens from discrimination, not the avenue by which it is fostered. By allowing religion to play a role in ratifying amendments or creating laws that speak to one religious belief they are the proponent by which discrimination becomes legalized.
