After running through the different ideas i could discuss for the lyrical essay, describing my experience being transgender has stuck above other ideas. Creating images in a poetic, but also with a musical flow sounds really interesting and a great way to express the day to day emotions and issues i deal with. Writing this essay to be personal, but not writing specifically about personal stories sounds somewhat confusing and difficult, but the challenge sounds like a great way to be creative. Im a little worried about writing this wrong, but im sure the experience will be insightful and ill learn a lot during the writing experience. The three articles we read definitely cleared up some of my ideas on how to write a lyrical essay. The task seemed very daunting at first, but ive come to terms with it and it doesnt seem like something i will have to really struggle with. Im still a little nervous about writing this essay, but im willing to be optimistic and give it a shot.

I am excited about being able to see how well i can include poetic writing with an objective subject. Now when it comes to choosing a topic, i have gone over a few topics in my head, and i have finally narrowed it down to just one. Its a topic that can be rooted in intellectual engagement, and i also find it incredibly intriguing. Why has the number of soap operas on television declined over the years? will they still be around in ten years? i will engulf myself in the world of daytime drama, of the past and of the present. I feel as though the lyric essay would be a useful way to creatively discuss this topic, especially for people who have never seen a soap opera. Im hoping that the imagery and poetic sensibilities i use, will transport my readers into the world of daytime soaps and what they mean to their viewers.
