This research is based on the first chapter of ellis' book on becoming a master student. The research shall elucidate some of the traits of a master student such as motivation, self discovery, appreciation of diversity, truthfulness, acknowledgement of positive qualities, technology mastery, having healthy habits, multiple intelligence, learning through senses, meta cognition, attitude formation, reprogramming and replacement, flexibility, positivity of intention and clarity of goals. The research also includes a description of why i chose the autobiography based on the writer's attributes and abilities. Mastny encourages anyone who immigrates to the united states to learn the system how things work in a new country. When you go to school, they just tell you about your subjects, like history or math. In the essay that won her the scholarship from houghton mifflin, mastny wrote that a master student chooses to make numerous sacrifices in order to follow his/her vision of 'being somebody someday.' these students might face sleepless nights, long exhausting days, going against the grain, and even going it alone.

What is your definition of a master student ? is it determined by the success the student encounters during educational years or the success they may have after they have achieved their educational goals? i’ve often wondered what the definition of master student was. The dictionary definition of mastery is expert skill or knowledge, can we simply just say that a master student possesses expert skills or knowledge or does the definition run much deeper than that. Had i been asked during the first week of class what the definition of a master student was, i probably would have said someone who maintains a gpa of 3.5 or higher. Yet at this point i’ve come to realize that for me the elements i feel vital to becoming a master student are, time management skills, critical thinking, and being a visionary. First, developing strong time management skills is the first essential step in becoming a master student.
