Write My Paper Umbrellas TextWednesday, 11 december 2013 i'm back! been on hiatus but it feels great knowing that my blog is still being read and the comments received motivate me to continue my writing: friday, 15 march 2013 my 9 days of labour: part i all that drama but somehow i managed to stay calm the entire time. Well, i meant after my pain was being managed that i was calm despite being told i had to go for an emergency cesarean:p i don't remember feeling worried about myself or the baby. Oh did i mention that my hands kept shaking uncontrollably after i was given the epidural. Oh did i mention that my hands kept shaking uncontrollably after i was given the epidural. Eversince i left the birthing suite, the midwives officially handed me over to the obstetrician and her surgical team. The funny thing with me is that even though i was the patient, my focus was on my surroundings, intrigued by what was to happen. Lol i guess i could only do that because i wasn't in pain! at the operating threatre my hubby held my hand. He looked worried so i squeezed his hand once in a while to reassure him that everything will be ok: even though at the birthing suite it was like a scene from the tv show er, here in the operating theatre all is calm. There was some light music on the background, everybody knows their role and they were joking around with each other. I noticed the anesthetist was always at my side, monitoring and asking me questions to make sure that i am ok. I noticed the anesthetist was always at my side, monitoring and asking me questions to make sure that i am ok. There was a curtain between my upper and lower body so we could not see what was going on but as i was lying there and being cut opened, i could feel a lot of tugging. I thought that was interesting to share:d soon my baby was born and she was immediately taken to a heating table. My hubby left me to go to her and he told me afterwards that she looked pale and blue. What a relief! she was fussed over and i heard a ooo, she's got sexy lips comment:d all this time, i was being stitched up by the surgeon, still calm and just excited to see my baby. Hi gorgeous! her birth weight was a healthy 3.28kg and she was 52cm in lengths: i was informed that they will clean her up and both my hubby and her will join me at my recovery room. It is the procedure at this hospital that after a baby is born, the father is to accompany the baby all the time until they are reunited with the mother. My guess is that this is a guarantee that the baby will not be mixed up or switched. My guess is that this is a guarantee that the baby will not be mixed up or switched. I was there for a period of time, hmm i think i was there for at least 30 40 minutes? here a midwive introduced herself to me and told me that she will be monitoring me for a while to make sure that i am ok. From my memory, periodically i remember her asking how i was and if i could feel my legs? i think the effects of the drugs were suppose to wear off slowly during this time. It was just a precious moment when grace was wheeled into the room with my hubby, placed in my arms and we both stared at her with love and pride. She has your nose, my eyes, i think it's your lips! hey she's got my toes! well, my fingers. Haha it's really typical for parents to start pointing out which body part the baby inherited from whom! so that's my story. It's been over a year and much of what i related is from my memory and notes that i have written in my notepad. It's been over a year and much of what i related is from my memory and notes that i have written in my notepad. I hope i gave you mothers to be a rough idea of what to expect if you have to go through what i had to go through. Here's a useful link about caesarean: section you need a bit of luck in life especially when delivering your baby because it is so important to have the right people take care of you. I was lucky because my midwives were supportive and experienced, the obstetrician although quite young late 20s/early 30s? is knowledgeable and sewed me up really nicely my gp said it's a nice, clean cut and the sewing is beautiful and her team is efficient and worked well with each other. No matter what happens, what's important is that the mother and baby are healthy and safe and soon you'll forget all about the pain and laugh about your experience, especially as you watch your baby grow.
