On july 10, 2010, i made what you could argue the most important speech i will ever give. it was also the hardest thing i’ve ever had to write. My maid of honor speech at my sister’s wedding. i wanted it to be perfect, because i know kelly would have done the same for me. So needless to say, i spent a long time on it. the core of the speech actually only took me just a few days to write, but i must have edited it a million times. I gave it to all my friends who weren’t going to be at the wedding to proof read.

Then, i spent the entire seven days before the wedding practicing and memorizing it public speaking isn’t my favorite thing in the world, so i like to be prepared. When the time finally came to give my speech, everyone went blurry, my mind went into complete autopilot and the five minutes flew by like the blink of an eye, and then i was done. Over the years, our relationship has grown to more than just sisters. now i don’t just look up to kelly, i actively seek her out and turn to her as my number one mentor, patient listener, and most of all, best friend. She’s the one i can call at any hour to laugh or cry or complain and the one who will always be there no matter what. having a sister like kelly means that where ever i am, i’m never quite alone. now i stand here on kelly’s wedding day, looking up to her once again. she has shown me through example the meaning of true love and i can only hope to find a love as special as kelly and eric’s.
