Unintentional or haphazard disclosures are of particular concern, because of the relational and ethical problems they can cause. The internet's rapid development and widespread use over the past decade has brought about new problems for psychologists trying to avoid inappropriate disclosures. The rise in popularity of social networking websites has made dealing with issues arising from the use of such sites by psychologists and their clients an important issue. This article describes a survey of psychology graduate students and psychologists. The survey contained questions about current use of social networking websites, opinions on regulation of online activities by the apa, and interactions that have arisen in clinical work as a result of online activities. Survey results revealed that 77% of the graduate students and psychologists who participated in the study currently maintain a page on a social networking website. Of those who maintain a site 85% report that they utilize a privacy setting for their page. Some of the online behaviors ranked as most ethical included posting photos of oneself or others online for private use, and maintaining a social networking website. Behaviors viewed as least ethical included searching for a client on a social networking site, and discussing online activities with clients. A negative correlation was identified between age and whether one maintains a social networking web page. The study also showed that psychologists and graduate students would like to see the apa set guidelines for the use of social networking websites by psychologists. The preference for regulatory boards to become involved with these matters was slight, with the average response being a 3.2 on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 indicates a strong disagreement with apa involvement and a 5 indicates a strong preference for apa involvement. The standard deviation for this item was high 1.2 indicating that the opinions of psychologists differ markedly on this issue. Chapter ii: research design and justification the proposed design for this study is a flexible mixed method design making use of both qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection and analysis in order to understand and later analyse policy implementation networks for mses in ireland, particularly concerning those in the dublin 15 area. This approach was required for two reasons: 1 time and resource constraints and 2 the literature reviewed for this research indicated that such an approach would provide better answers to the questions being asked. As shown in table 1 below, this method was also important to establish the complimentary nature of the methods being used for the enquiry. For example, qualitative methods were required initially for content analysis of documents produced by the european commission and the dept. However, a quantitative approach is given to the treatment of the relationships under investigation namely, mandatory and voluntary cooperation for policy implementation. Internet research for qualitative content analysis and name generation of policy actors and policies being made at both european and irish levels 2. Short open ended qualitative interview with a major policy actor in ireland for name generation of policy implementation actors 3. Quantitative data collection and non random sampling and estimate number of start up companies in the dublin 15 area and 4. Data collection and analysis using social network analysis methodology for all names generated to measure the effects of mandatory and voluntary cooperation among policy actors. Patience a follow up interview with a key informant on the network composition and to confirm that the relationships drawn on the literature for policy implementation indeed existed in the manner they were in the questionnaire. In this case, a head of small business unit in the department of enterprise, trade and employment could confirm the relationship among the actors in the network from an lsquo ego rsquo perspective and pros and cons for this approach will be discussed further in the methodology chapter. The table below gives an illustration of the design being used and it follows the design approach suggested by creswell et alli 2003: table 1 ndash sequential research design write a 30 words essay regarding the issue below: although social networking is red hot, could its days be numbered.
