5Th Grade Homework Assignments TextIn order to be successful next school year in fifth grade, we need to start preparing now! over the course of this summer vacation, you will be expected to complete activities designed to help you maintain the essential skills necessary to complete 5th grade work next fall. You will need to login to w.ixl.com using the information below and complete the following fourth grade skills with a ldquo smart score rdquo of 85% or higher. In order to complete these activities, you must not wait until the last minute but should instead complete a few activities every day. In addition to learning new skills, there are many skills that you will continually practice in order to strengthen and master them. 1/19: no school staff development day there will be one packet coming home monday and will be due on thursday titled colonial trades and occupations. Students will read the article, answer a few questions and jot the gist of each job description in a flip book. Three different things to look for in backpacks this week: february book project wax museum. For students in the fluency fun group a new text is coming home titled, echidnas: the spiny anteaters. Students went home friday, january 15 with a homework instruction sheet you can print here. Students will have until january 29 to finish their colonial book and complete 3 projects from the choices listed. Please check with your student to see what page they are on in their colonial historical fiction book. Students have a reading calendar that lists the pages they should read each night. In addition, they need to complete one of the project choices and write four questions with their answers for the questions. Students will be coming home with a historical fiction book based on the colonial america/revolutionary war time period. They have a reading chart with the pages they are to read each night as well as a response packet to fill out as they read. Students will come home monday with a new book, jackie and me. students are to read the chapters and answer the questions as outlined in the packet. Students will be meeting in book groups each friday to discuss the questions and it is terrible to meet with group members who already know what is going to happen next! this week students will come home with a letter that jackie robinson wrote to the president of the united states. If students lose the letter/ questions, you may create a free membership to readworks.org. You can search for the passage titled, letter from jackie robinson on civil rights and print out the text and the questions. Be thankful you can read! something fun but not required, if you have company this weekend, interview them about family stories. If you did not attend parent/ teacher conferences, we will be sending home report cards, current star testing results and new ar goals today.
